My Priorities

Every decision I make will start the same way — by listening. Listening to students, families, educators, and our community to understand what’s working, what isn’t, and where we can improve. While there are issues I intend to prioritize, it’s about working together to find practical solutions that support student success and strengthen our schools..

Community & Workforce Readiness

Students should graduate with more than a diploma — they should leave high school with a clear sense of direction and confidence in their next step. That means exposing students to career pathways earlier, connecting classroom learning to real-world opportunities, and helping them discover their interests before making costly decisions about college or training programs.

Mesa has strong programs in place, and I believe we can build on that foundation by expanding partnerships with local businesses, trade programs, and higher education institutions. When students understand their options, they are better prepared to succeed—whether that path leads to college, a career, or both.

Meeting Students Where They Are

No two students learn the same way or face the same circumstances, and our schools should reflect that reality. Students are balancing academics, social pressures, and challenges outside the classroom, and they need environments that support their ability to focus and grow.

I believe in empowering educators and staff to identify individual student needs and work with families and administrators to provide the right supports — whether academic, social, or emotional. When students feel supported and understood, they are better able to engage, learn, and succeed.

Expanded Learning Options

Education is no longer one-size-fits-all. Many students thrive in specialized programs like STEM, project-based learning, fine arts, or accelerated academies — but access to these options can be limited by geography.

I want to work with families and communities across Mesa to better understand which programs are most needed and explore ways to expand access. That could mean incorporating specialized tracks within existing schools or reimagining underutilized campuses to serve new learning models. Our goal should be to provide meaningful options for families while keeping students engaged within the district.

Supporting Students with Disabilities

Students with IEPs and learning differences deserve the same opportunity to succeed as every other student — but that requires strong collaboration, consistent resources, and thoughtful planning.

I want to help strengthen communication between families, educators, and administrators to better understand challenges and identify solutions. While funding constraints are real, we must continue working toward systems that provide the attention, services, and support these students need to reach their full potential.

Safe and Reliable Schools

Safe, well-maintained schools are essential for learning. When students and teachers are dealing with broken air conditioning, outdated facilities, or safety concerns, it becomes harder to focus on education.

I will prioritize responsible and transparent use of district resources while advocating for long-term investments in school safety and infrastructure. That includes supporting efforts to modernize campuses, improve safety features, and ensure our schools are environments where students can learn without disruption.
